GOOD LOOKING ANIMALS
Mike Steimel
Mike Steimel is a St. Louis, MO based songwriter/producer/sometimes maker of videos. After years of performing and writing with bands like Just Add Water, Jonathan Cour, and Spur, he stumbled into TV song placements after being approached by a major LA library while he lived in Los Angeles for 8 years.
In 2014, he got his first big TV commercial placement for Hello Products (toothpaste and oral care) of his song, Smile, which was co-written with Mike Sullivan. The spot received widespread airplay in the US and UK.
Other placements, both solo and with the band Good Looking Animals, include American Idol, Blood & Oil, The Fosters, Arrow, CSI Miami (UK), Dateline NBC, Big Brother, Keeping up with the Kardashians, Restaurant Impossible, Auction Hunters, SyFy’s Face Off, Giuliana & Bill, Real World (Portland & St. Thomas), Best Ink, American Ninja Warrior, White Collar Brawlers, America’s Worst Tattoos, and many more!
Early songwriting influences include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin - and hugely – Tom Petty, whose songs captivated him while feeling homesick while working as a treasure diver on Spanish shipwrecks off the coast of Florida in his late teens and early 20s.
He is currently hard at work on songs with multiple songwriters, including Shannon Nicole, when not working in IT or catching a little St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

6/29/12: For not having our new EP done and release yet (due in approx 1 month), we are on quite the lucky streak. We just found out that American Idol used a clip of Mike's song There's a Road back in February. Millions of people heard that! Unfortunately, we did not, because we were writing new stuff. We can't wait to get that to you in July. Be in the know (and get special benefits) by joining the email list above!

Thanks so much for the shout out! We can't wait to get these new songs with Steve Waller on vocals out to you all very soon!
6/12/12: The first GLA photo shoot on June 3rd was a success. We did two locations, Los Angeles' Chinatown and hilltop right next to Dodger Stadium, overlooking downtown LA at sunset. Now the hard part, picking the right shot. Photographer Paul Gronner does amazing work!
